Our Bachelor of Early Childhood Education prepares you to support, engage and teach young children in their most formative years.
The course develops your understanding of the importance of the early years of a child's life and the crucial role a teacher plays during this time.
For each 8-point subject you are enrolled in, you should expect to spend 10 to 12 hours per week working on assignments and assigned readings, tutorial assistance, individual or group research/study, forum activity, workplace learning, and attending lectures. If you are studying four subjects per session, this is equivalent to a full-time job. The workload for some subjects may vary as a result of approved course design.
As a Sri Lankan local student, you'd need to fulfill minimum entry requirements to apply for this course.
Students seeking to work in Australia after graduation as an early childhood teacher will need to meet the requirements set by the Australian Children's Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) and will be required to register with the appropriate state or territory Teacher Registration Board.
This course, while globally recognised as an AQF 7 Bachelor level degree, is not professionally accredited by ACECQA and as such does not provide an automatic entitlement to work as an early childhood teacher in Australia.
Your course includes placement subjects designed to give you valuable real-world experience.
Charles Sturt University’s Work-Integrated Learning Placement Delivery and Management Procedure will apply to these placements.
The Faculty of Arts and Education will decide who approves placements (either a Charles Sturt staff member or partner staff member).
Quality is assured through our existing governance arrangements, including Academic Quality and Standards Committee (AQSC) and Faculty Board, and monitored by the Joint Steering Committee and Joint Academic Management Sub-Committee.
Our partnership with Prospects College of Higher Education (PCHE) offers structured academic pathways to ensure you are fully prepared for university study.
If you successfully complete the PCHE Diploma in Early Childhood Education, you'll receive direct entry into Year 2.
Applications open in January. Register now and we’ll notify you as soon as you can apply.
